SKPS Politics !!

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

SKPS school head boy/girl elections …. hmmm…. quite nostalgic !!! I hope it still has the hype and glamour what it had…. I was fortunate to be the part and parcel of 4 such election campaigns right from the year it started.

when I was in 9th, that is hmmmm… 2002…. our then new principal Mr. Francis KA came with such an idea of American Model School Elections… where every one from class 4-12 can vote and directly elect the School Head Boy/Girl.

The one week long campaigning ,biasing votes, posters all around, the small little ‘bribes’ for the young voters, spreading rumours, getting beaten up, those stupid fights …..

and not the least…. the Meet the Candidate Programme…. (Trust me! Its a night mare…) all were the key features of our own SKPSian Politics.

And the best thing, after the elections….. after all these dramas, allegations, fights….. skpsians could reallly gel together and work as a team allways!

Though the present skpians are not allowed to go so ‘wild’ during public campaigning I guess all that it still happens ‘under cover’ in skps with the same ‘josh’.

Hopefully someone is there to carry forward the skps spirit and keep it alive…..

I suddenly felt like blogging on this space bcoz in our college we are speaking about elections and we have started with some of the so called  ’political’ games !

And I was just rembering that we have seen much more of all that in our own school and actually thers nothing new that our college mates can surprise us with !

Bottom line:- Whatever be the field……………..

SKPS ROCKS !

How S.K.P.S Helped Me to Bring Out the Best in Me

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

“ Alike a beautiful sculpture carried out”, S.K.P.S unraveled the sudden talents in me. “Alike a lioness protects her cubs”, S.K.P.S protected me under her wings. In the magical world of S.K.P.S, I had a charming life. The scenario of my life was written when I was born in SKPS at the age of six in my first standard. Those twelve years in SKPS is the most wonderful part of my life. Amidst the bright plumage, I spent my school days. S.K.P.S consider a students as the part of her soul.

She takes her for the overall nourishment of her children. There is a saying that ‘one who takes birth in fire will not wilt in heat.’ S.K.P.S makes her children do all the impossible tasks possible. The special aptitudes in a child are recognized by the school and she upraises each and every child on the large scenario. There are many activities in the school like sports day, science and arts exhibition, youth festival, children’s day, teacher’s day, annual day etc. which enriches the students. These are the various dais where the student can perform his best.

Every nook and corner of S.K.P.S is blessed with her guardians, yes of course, the manager and the principal. Teachers of S.K.P.S are a great motivation centre. They indulge the students in co-curricular and curricular activities. S.K.P.S is my home away from my home. We should always remember the saying ‘unity is strength’. The success of S.K.P.S lies on the unity of her members. Each and every student of S.K.P.S is a helping hand in our life. They are the precious treasures that we acquire from her.

In the calm, cool breeze away from the busy life amidst the silhouette of nature S.K.P.S is like a charming princess. Its not when we are with S.K.P.S we recognize the talents that S.K.P.S gave us, but when we are away from her that we recognize how she influenced us in bringing out the best in us. And today, I am away from S.K.P.S but in her soul. I am grateful to the school, manager, principal and teachers for helping me in my formation of truth and excellence. I wish S.K.P.S to reach the heights of brilliance.

Teacher Pupil Relationship in SKPS

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

TEACHERS- They are the best on earth.. Education is the second birth of an individual. In SKPS, we are nurtured by our second parents, teachers. I am happy to say that our teachers desire is to teach us and mould us to succeed in life. A teacher is like a candle, that consumes itself to light the way of others. Without them we would have been lost in darkness of ignorance.

Half a cup of friendship and half a cup of thoughtfulness creamed together with a pinch of tenderness, mixed in a bowl of loyalty with a cup of faith and one of hope, the ability to laugh at little things baked in a good knowledge literate pan, is the best way of describing our energetic teachers.

Even though, they are facing Herculean tasks and problems, they always please us. It is a best inspiration for us, to be happy in spite of worries and tensions.

It will be incomplete, without mentioning our principal, Mr.K.A.Francis. He always reminds us that “winners don’t do different things but do things differently”. This motivates us to charge our imagination and exhibits varieties in all spheres of life.

The bond we share with our teachers is like a circle of love, which has neither a beginning nor an ending but keeps on expanding. The word “SKPS family”, came to its perfection due to its purity and divinity of our teachers-pupil relationship.

Imagine a black sky with bright shining stars all together. It is a beautiful sight, isn’t it?

The sky is our SKPS.

The bright little shining stars are the students.

The stars are turned shining by our teachers and Principal.

Examinations in S.K.P.S

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Education is simply the soul of society, as it passes from one generation to another. The more you know, the more you are civilized.

S.K.P.S. is a vibrant social institution where the course of life is taught to every child. Here a congenial educational environment, the life giving, invigorating and supporting ethos that make the differences are offered to each and every child.

In spite of the enormous amount spent by the state government, which supports the banning of exams, S.K.P.S. is very curious and concerned about the future of her children. Hence, 5 exams are conducted periodically to rate the skills of the children. Besides the regular examinations, our school also conducts “common class test” which appears every 2 weeks. Our school offers the very right platform for the full-fledged development of an individual. As education is not simply dictating notes or parroting the notes, our school makes it a point that the children are flooded with confidence. Thus, prior to the C.B.S.E. Board Examination, a set of three model exams are held so as to make the students well-versed in writing public examinations.

S.K.P.S definitely stands out among other schools of the Sahodaya complex, as a shining star for her achievements in the academic scenario. Every year, in the board exams, the names of a couple of students appear on the top list of the score sheet. We had All India toppers in Biology, Social Science,Science and Maths.

My joy has no bounds when I stand at rostrum to contemplate on the fact that S.K.P.S. is the only platform, one could ever get in his/her course of search of truth and excellence.

Language Skills I mastered from SKPS

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

I adore S.K.P.S .It is as simple as that. A pure, beautiful place, filled with loving hearts. Even the faintest of memories about this place fills my heart with a feeling of nostalgia, that echoes in every beat of my heart and adds a tinge of gratitude to my fond thoughts. Even now when I get a chance to walk  to a welcoming stage in the midst of claps and applause, my mind thankfully bows before the facade of this institution that was once my own family.

Being a reputed C.B.S.E school, S.K.P.S has always endeavored to improve the language skills of the pupils and tries its best to fulfill   every unspoken promise, that a parent  receives from the confident eyes of a teacher. Like every other kid, I made fun of rules, and whenever the teachers insisted on speaking English, I giggled. CES cards and ILM set feet on an unwelcoming ground. We were busy inventing new expansions for those unlucky acronyms. Cheers followed. But now, away from my beloved school, I understand how all those laws and rules had imparted a good deal of verbal efficiency and confidence in me, without a very conscious effort from my part.

Now I’m doing my graduation in English literature. I thankfully remembered the invaluable contribution of my teachers and school, when they  called out my name, at the top, in the admission list. I recalled each and every earnest step my school had taken with a keen sincere objective- to impart knowledge. From an early age, the children are groomed and brought up in a language - rich atmosphere. My childhood was spent in the lap of S.K.P.S. At that tender age, my mind was opened  to this foreign, alien language. After a few hopeless, desperate encounters with the language, I began to feel the attraction, and started to try my hand, at reading English books. I still remember a nice librarian of ours, asking me to read out a library book. That was in my third standard, and it fascinated me. And there were competitions – rather healthy ones and with each participation, one could feel his language improving. There were debates and class discussions –anyone could voluntarily take part. As a sure reward, he’d receive abundant encouragement, and increased confidence.. Youth festivals are still held, with the same  zeal and vigour that brings out the best in students.

English is a universal language, that enables different people, from different nations, to adhere well, and converse effectively. Indians, have a subtle and vague fear whether  English will dismiss the mother tongue and traditions from tender tongues and hearts. But mother tongue is mother tongue. But the knowledge of an international language is a prerequisite once you begin to feel the need of a job. Entrance exams and competitive exams are fast becoming ‘tough’ for the want of English.

Whenever someone congratulates me, and holds out his hands for a handshake, I remember the teary farewell and thanks-giving ceremony, when I walked with a candle whose flame was brilliantly lit amalgam of love, respect and knowledge, and was ignited by S.K.P.S. . . . .
