CBSE Schools Youth Festival in SKPS
Our excitement was on the crust of wave when our school was chosen to host the Sahodaya Youth Festival scheduled to be held on 1, 2 & 3 October 2008. Since then it was a rat race against all odds to groom the SKPS family for the mega event. The ball began rolling with the formation of a total of 23 committee. It is our dream to make it a unique youth festival- the only one of its kind.
Kottayam Sahodaya, the most bustling Sahodaya in South India has member schools from Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Idukki & Kottayam districts. It is an all time record that 3252 participants from these districts will be vying with one another to win laurels to their side. They will be competing vigorously on 19 stages erected in mini halls and spacious auditorium. All these days the curtain will be raised at nine in the morning and is expected to fall as late 11.00 O’clock. A panel of 180 handpicked judges from across the length and breadth of Kerala will held the scales even during these days.
Shri Malamel Namboodiri,a renowned cook famed for its culinary skills with the team of 60 assistants will be preparing food for participants and guests. It is estimated that more than 5250 people will be served nourishing food under a huge make shift dining hall each day. Parking areas capacious enough to accommodate 120 school buses and hundreds of light vehicles have been spaced out in the school vicinity. Accommodation facility is provided to those schools opting for the same. Bappuji Central School and St.Joseph School Keezhoor will accommodate the excess pf what SKPS cannot shelter. More than 200 student volunteers have been trained to render prompt help to the participants and visitors.
In a nutshell, the spadework has been completed for the smooth and efficient conduct of the Youth Festival. As the participants are on the same wavelength, stiff competition is expected in all the events. Definitely, the onlookers will have a feast to their eyes and ears. You could hear the bugle trumpeting from the salubrious hilltop of Mariamala as the winners walk away with prizes.
