SKPS - An Overview

The seed of SKPS was sown in 1988 on a cloistered and sullen hillock called Vellarampara by two Italian Benedictine monks Abbot Joseph Zambernardi and Abbot Lawrence Russo with the unflinching support extended by Mar Kuriakose Kunnacherry.

The broadening of SKPS from its present prestigious position has always been a riveting narrative. It is saga of turning a mundane Vellarampara into a panoramic landscape fondly known as Mariamala. Many hands work together to fabricate the complex edifice of SKPS. It is now both an engineering sensation and a centre of monastic spirituality. Today it towers as high as the top-notch educational institutions in South India.

After five years of gestation the embryonic foetus became mature for parturition in 1993. Thus SKPS was triggered off on 7 June under the masterly directorship of Rev. Dr. Jacob Vellian. When it began it had 209 students and 8 teachers on the roll. Although the road ahead offered a bumpy ride, the school made steady progress under him. When he was called for another spiritual assignment the scepter was signed over to Benedictine fathers. Now it is being run by Vallombrosan Benedictine Congregation under the guidance of H.E. Mar Mathew Moolakkatt OSB. It is Fr. Tomy Thervalakattayil, a byword for managerial skills, has exalted the school to its enviable heights. His hands are always buttressed by Fr. Shaji Padinjarekunnel.

Today this school has top-ranking infrastructure facilities to be rated as an international school. Its ultra-modern Science, Computer and Language laboratories, a spacious Library with a stock of 12000 books etc. are some of the attractions to name. Twelve school buses plying in a network of route help the students and teachers commute comfortably.

A busy academic schedule frequented with examinations to evaluate scrupulously students’ intellectual progress.

At present SKPS shelters under its roof 1500 students and 80 teachers without the discrimination of religion, sex or economic status SKPS family is marching ahead to realize unattainable goals with Mr. Francis K.A in the vanguard to lead the team, the task seems to be easy.
